The Hospital Clínico de Barcelona has been attacked this weekend by ransomware. Emergency cases were referred to other clinics.
The ransomware attack and data hijacking halted all operations at the Clinic de Barcelona hospital, leading to the cancellation of appointments and surgeries.
The computer attack meant that not all users could be treated at the hospital, radiotherapy was delayed and emergency cases were referred to other clinics.
Calamity
The isolation of data affected the laboratory, pharmacy and emergency services, says the corresponding entity. It also had consequences for home hospitalization, radiology service, endoscopic examinations, radiological examinations, dialysis, and outpatient pharmacy.
According to official sources, it began on the morning of Sunday, March 5.
The appointments for Monday have been canceled because there is still no solution to the cyberattack.
The amount of money requested by the group behind the ransomware has not been specified.

Endless
When the ransomware is installed and activated, the target receives a message telling them what to do and how much to pay to decrypt their data. This ransomware can range from thousands to millions of dollars, depending on the financial strength of the target.
Because clinics need to work to save lives, criminals find them easier targets for money.
Some groups have certain “ethics” in this type of fraud. Hacking group LockBit has apologized for attacking Canada’s largest children’s hospital.
Cyberattack criminals have apologized for the ransomware attack that destroyed the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto for hours, leaving children without emergency care.
