Peruvian health authorities have raised the alarm due to the exponential growth of dengue cases that affect the country, with particular incidence in the north of the country; It’s close to the jungle area.
According to local media in that country, health authorities reported an increase of about 3,041 cases of the disease between the seventh and eighth week of this year, bringing the global number in early March to 17,430 cases.
In this sense, the authorities indicated the provinces of Ucayali, Loreto, Piura, Madre de Dios, San Martín, Huanuco and Amazonas as the most affected regions; Which represents about 81% of all dengue cases in all of Peru.
In the same sense, and according to media like La República, it is known that in 2022, at the same time, provinces like Ucayali and Loreto will reach figures equivalent to half of what is happening this year.
Amid the alarm caused by the exponential increase in dengue cases in Peru, local authorities estimate the adoption of a series of immediate measures in some of the regions most affected by the disease, which tend to advance epidemiological surveillance. The operation, as well as prevention, calls for joint action by local authorities and citizens themselves.
Among the works carried out, cleaning brigades were included in places where the presence of puddles was estimated; An essential factor for the development of larvae and mosquitoes responsible for transmitting the disease.
Thus, one of the actions carried out is the fight against the so-called Aedes aegypti mosquito, an insect classified as the main transmitter of dengue.
In addition to the battalions, an invitation was made to the population in general, guiding them to take preventive measures in their homes, such as washing containers where there are puddles of water and permanent inspection of places intended for the storage of water resources . , warning that the final reproduction scenarios of this insect must stop.
With regard to measures to mitigate the spread of the virus through people who are already infected, an appeal is being made so that anyone who registers symptoms associated with the virus, such as fever, eye pain, rash and joint pain, can alert their community and immediately go to the health post.
In addition to the increase in infections, another indicator that is of particular concern to the authorities is the high number of deaths due to the disease, which rises to around 21 so far this year.
As for the places with the highest death rate from the disease, local media cited the province of Ucayali as the hardest hit.
Specifically, according to the statistics revealed by the newspaper La Repubblica, 8 people died there, while the death toll in the province of San Martin reached 4, followed by Loreto, Madre de Dios, Junín and Amazonas with two cases each.
According to the aforementioned media, a minor under the age of eleven is on the list of the 21 dead.
As a precautionary measure, the central government also announced a budget of more than 16 million seoul to meet the country’s health emergency decree.
